VMware Buys CloudVolumes - We're Still Friends

VMware has acquired CloudVolumes and its "Above the OS" layering technology to offer real-time delivery of Windows applications across its end user computing, software-defined datacenter and hybrid cloud businesses. Since Unidesk is the inventor of desktop layering and the market leader with 800 customers, most using VMware Horizon View, some will wonder what this means for our VMware relationship. Unidesk will continue to add extraordinary value and happiness to organizations deploying Horizon View.  And, we will continue to be a committed VMware partner.

“Unidesk removes the desktop management thorn from IT’s backside!"

Five years ago, my then 8 year-old son, Cooper, recorded a Unidesk "elevator pitch" for a conference I was attending. While Cooper’s expressions alone are worth viewing, what’s most remarkable is how accurately his assertions predicted the future of desktop virtualization.

Back then, most prognosticators said that VDI was all about security and compliance - moving data from vulnerable endpoint devices on the edge into the safe confines of the datacenter. Not Cooper, who's opening line was, “Managing PCs is a pain in the butt!”
