In IT, you usually only hear from end users when something is slow or broken. Another Unidesk customer is in the news as a result of their successful application and desktop virtualization deployment. TechTarget SearchDisasterRecovery just published "Health Network Labs doubles up for disaster recovery" detailing how the Pennsylvania-based diagnostic testing center has implemented best-in-class VDI with Unidesk for application and image management. VDI and other virtual workloads are so critical that Health Network Labs has created a mirrored environment with technologies from Cisco, Citrix, EMC, Imprivata, Unidesk, and VMware to ensure availability.Healthcare VDI, Unidesk Customers, Tech Target | Read this post >
Healthcare VDI projects are complex, and often hit roadblocks when it comes to virtualizing mission-critical apps like Electronic Medical Record (EMR) software. But this isn't the case for Shannon Medical Center.
The Texas-based healthcare organization is avoiding EMR app virtualization challenges in VDI and simplifying delivery and patching of more than 150 apps with Unidesk application lifecycle management software. One of their 150 apps is their "Monster" EMR, McKesson Paragon.
Mike Russell, Assistant IT Director at Shannon Medical Center, shows in 90 seconds how they're using Unidesk as the solution to their McKesson EMR image management, application delivery, and personalization challenges.EMR, McKesson, Healthcare VDI, Webinar, Unidesk Customers | Read this post >
Unidesk is proud to have been named to CRN's 2016 Data Center 100 list and Top 20 Virtualization Vendors alongside industry leaders Citrix, Microsoft, and VMware. This is part 1 of a 2-part blog series. The first gives an overview of USF Health’s 3,000 user Epic and VDI rollout. The second summarizes the business benefits that USF Health is now realizing.
Giving care providers mobile access to Epic EMR and hundreds of other key apps can be a real IT challenge when every group has unique requirements. This is why many healthcare organizations are using VDI with Unidesk application management to enhance provider access to clinical apps, comply with HIPAA and meaningful use mandates, and enable clinicians to spend more time on patient care and less time on logins.
USF Health is one such organization. We featured them in our Customer Success webinar series to find out the technologies and strategies their two-person end user computing team is using to efficiently scale VDI and Epic, and keep 3,000 users happy. This blog summarizes what they told the audience.Healthcare VDI, USF Health, Unidesk Customers, Epic EMR | Read this post >
USF Health in Florida and Lakeland Health in Michigan are both using virtual desktops as the delivery vehicle for Epic EMR and other clinical applications to their 3,000 physicians, nurses, and staff.
While one uses VMware Horizon and vSphere and the other Citrix XenDesktop and Microsoft Hyper-V for desktop virtualization, both have standardized on the same solution for application management: Unidesk.
The end user computing architects at both institutions recently shared their project goals, designs, and implementation strategies in separate webinars attended by nearly 1,000 healthcare IT professionals. Unidesk law firm customer Ober Kaler was recently featured in the Maryland Daily Record for the advanced mobile access they’re granting their employees with virtual desktops and Unidesk application management software.
The article, “Because of technology, snow day means business as usual” explains how the recent “snowmageddon” in Baltimore had no effect on Ober Kaler’s business operations and client service. Attorneys and staff worked from home with access to all applications, even though the firm's office was officially closed on the day of the storm.Legal, VDI, Webinar, Unidesk Customers, Law Firm | Read this post >
We kicked off the New Year with three awesome customer webinars in our End User Computing Customer Webinar Series, which spotlights IT professionals who are modernizing their Windows workspaces with the help of Unidesk application lifecycle management technology.
Even though all three customers are using three different connectivity solutions (Microsoft Remote Desktop Services, Citrix XenDesktop, and VMware Horizon), and two different virtualization platforms (Hyper-V and vSphere), their VDI deployments have one technology in common: Unidesk.
Unidesk's openness should not come as a surprise. We're known for our numerous customer successes with VMware Horizon. We're also known for being Microsoft's image management partner for scaling Microsoft VDI on Hyper-V and making it easy to move Windows apps to the cloud with Azure RemoteApp. Our innovations for Citrix have also been in the news lately, and many Citrix customers with large XenApp farms are already making enterprise commitments to Unidesk.
In case you missed it, here's how the 3 customers are using Unidesk with their chosen infrastructure and end user computing platforms. The full webinar recordings let you listen to your peers explain how they are making application and desktop management easier for their IT organizations, while delivering fast, secure 24x7 access to Windows apps for their end users.VDI, Webinar, Unidesk Customers | Read this post >
After our well-received sessions at the Microsoft MVPDays in western Canada last fall, we’re excited to be a Platinum sponsor of the multi-city IT Pro Community Road Show again, this time in eastern Canada. Look for Unidesk this week at the following locations and venues:
Last month, two Unidesk manufacturing customers - Dayton Superior and Kawasaki Motors Manufacturing USA - made headlines as the subject of Windows IT Pro magazine’s hit story, "From Water Pumps to Sports Bikes, Manufacturers like Their VDI".
This month, another Unidesk customer - Montgomery County, PA - was featured in the magazine’s new story, "Law enforcement ups its VDI game." The article explains how local, state, and federal agencies are enhancing mobility and streamlining application management for their workforces, while realizing additional benefits such as better security and lower costs.
For those who think virtualizing desktops and apps is more expensive than doing things the same old way with PCs, the facts shared in this story prove otherwise.Government, VDI, Windows IT Pro, Unidesk Customers | Read this post >

A new announcement from Gartner confirms what most in the IT industry already know: Windows 10 is well on its way to becoming the most widely installed operating system ever. Microsoft estimates that 12 million business PCs are running Windows 10 and that it has been downloaded over 110 million times. Gartner agrees, predicting that 50% of all enterprises will have started Windows deployments by the end of 2016. What does this mean for enterprise IT?
Already, employees are bringing their own devices to work with Windows 10 preinstalled, and are expecting access to existing Windows business apps. This presents a major challenge for IT, as some older apps may be incompatible with the new OS. If your IT organization isn't ready to do a complete Windows 10 migration, how do you handle this Windows 10 app compatibility issue? With remote desktop session host (RDSH) technology and Unidesk app layering.Citrix XenApp, windows 10, Microsoft RemoteApp, Azure RemoteApp, App compatibility | Read this post >
