Last week we held a VDI in Healthcare roundtable webinar as part of our monthly corporate webinar series. This webinar was a bit different from our usual VDI webinars that feature our customers.
First, it was a roundtable, town hall style format. We have only done two others like this in the past, a VDI in Higher Education Roundtable webinar with several of our college and university customers, and a VDI in Local Government Roundtable webinar featuring several of our city and county government customers. Audience feedback is they love hearing different points of view, so we decided to repeat this format for healthcare.
Second, this was the first time we had an outside expert as our webinar host. Mike Feld is a principal at healthcare consultancy VertitechIT. He's an expert in Epic deployments and is also acting CIO at Lancaster General Health. We thought he would be ideal to moderate the discussion on keys to desktop virtualization success in healthcare.
Lastly, this was our first webinar co-sponsored with our newest technology alliance partner and leader in authentication and access solutions for VDI, Imprivata.
The best part of course was the 4 AMAZING Imprivata and Unidesk joint customers who participated and spoke about their virtual desktop deployments. Each customer had a different story, a different VDI infrastructure (for example some using Citrix XenDesktop, some VMware Horizon View), and different reasons for going down the virtual desktop path. The stars of this webinar were:
- Chris Peredun, Systems Administrator at Group Health Centre
- Mike Russell, Assistant Director of IT at Shannon Medical Center
- Sheranaga Jayasinghe, Director of IT at Sunrise Health Region
- Ryan Ogburn, Senior System Administrator at Peninsula Regional Medical Center
They covered everything you need to know about VDI in healthcare: Single Sign On, EMR and EHR systems, application layering, image management, storage, printing, USB devices, and more! And, they all answered this question: "What would you tell someone just starting with VDI they need to know before beginning their virtual desktop project?"
I could go on and on about what a great webinar this was, but you should just watch it yourself! The VDI in healthcare webinar is now available for on-demand viewing. Let us know what you think!
